Calm
Ajani Charles has worked with Calm as an ambassador and producer, writing articles on behalf of the company, promoting the many mental health benefits of Calm’s platform to his audience, producing photographs for the company and being featured in the platform’s Calm Stories series.
Calm was founded in 2012 by Michael Acton Smith and Alex Tew, and Ajani began using the Calm app in 2014.
Soon after, while living in Toronto and among many teachers and communities, Ajani began learning mindfulness and meditation in person from Calm’s Jeff Warren and other Toronto-based mindfulness and meditation instructors via the Consciousness Explorer’s Club years before Warren became a crucial part of Calm’s team.
Coincidentally, years later, in 2019, Ajani produced a video for Calm featuring Jeff Warren to promote his daily meditation series in the Calm app.
A Toronto native that attended the nationally acclaimed Claude Watson Arts program like Ajani about a decade before he entered the program as a child, Tamara Levitt, who Ajani has photographed on behalf of Calm, became the company’s head of mindfulness in November 2014 and is one of the app’s primary voices.
Calm is now widely known as the most downloaded meditation and sleep app in the world and is considered the world’s first mental health tech unicorn with a valuation of over 3 billion dollars (American).
Ajani Charles currently has a multi-year meditation streak in the Calm app.
