Conscious Economics
Ajani Charles was commissioned to discuss the intersections of personal finance, mental health, mindfulness, and creativity with the CEO of Conscious Economics, Rosalind Rhiannon, as part of the organization’s Mindfulness & Money program.
Conscious Economics is a national not-for-profit organization and global social enterprise headquartered in Canada, with a 10-year history and proven track record in economic education, financial literacy programs, research, events and experiential learning. We have staged over 1000 events that have gathered youth, business leaders, policymakers, change agents, educators, industry associations, charities, and not-for-profits.
Mindfulness & Money is a series of events and educational programs designed to strengthen financial well-being skills through mindfulness.
Ajani and Rosalind explore the relationship between their values and investments through the conversation above.
Ethical investing is also covered through their dialogue and is described as a strategy where an investor chooses investments based on a personal ethical code. ESG strives to support industries making a positive impact, such as sustainable energy while seeking to create an investment return.
The two entrepreneurs also unpack a mindful approach to investments, helping participants understand socially responsible investing and how to ensure that they are aligning their values with their money.
Other important topics covered by Rosalind and Ajani include impact investing, the differences between assets and liabilities, emotional intelligence, journaling, and cognitive behavioural therapy within the context of personal finance.
Their conversation was part of the second season of Mindfulness & Money, which RBC InvestEase, CPP Investments, and Investment Funds Institute of Canada sponsored.
