Surrealist, Josh Keyes has released a limited edition 8″ wide by 10″ tall print entitled “Totem II (Raven Steals The Light)”, through Tiny Showcase.

As of yesterday, this Keyes print will be on sale for an entire week, with 50% of all proceeds from the print’s sales going towards Partners In Health’s Haiti Relief Fund — Stand With Haiti.

All prints from the artist and also from Tiny Showcase are shipped with certificates of authenticity, in addition to being hand-stamped with the edition’s date and other important information.

I really liked the composition, use of colors and the surrealism of the entire piece.

What I thought really enhanced “Totem II (Raven Steals The Light) was the fact that the bear, octopus and the raccoon appear to be incredibly homogeneous and natural in comparison to the raven — who not only looks out of place and completely indifferent to the other three animals, but who is also carrying a light bulb in his beak — a completely synthetic and consequently unnatural object.

What also enhanced the surrealism of Keyes’ print to me was the bear, octopus and raccoon appearing almost as friends, since they are three animals that would never be in such close proximity to one another without a conflict manifesting very quickly.

“Totem II (Raven Steals The Light)” can be found below (via Dry Mounted) and more information on Josh Keyes and Tiny Showcase can be found at these URLs:
